Cisco Internetwork Expert Routing & Switching 1 (CIERS1)
In cooperation with Fast Lane.
Who should attend
The first of the two 5-day workshops includes more than 30 hours of Instructor-Led Training including lessons, hands-on labs and 16 hours of assessment labs including instructor time and feedback to provide student mentoring and support.
In the three-phased CCIE preparation process recommended by the Cisco 360 learning program, the first advanced workshop should be attended during the latter portion of phase one.
The class maintains a ratio of 60% lecture and 40% hands-on lab exercises, class hours are from 09:00 am until at least 07:00pm depending on the pace of the class.
It is highly recommended that students view the following VOD sessions prior to attending this class:
- The entire Link-Layer series
- Blocks 1 and 3 of the Frame-Relay series
- The entire IGP series
- The entire BGP series
- Understand a specific set of critical technologies encountered in the Routing and Switching CCIE Lab
- Understand the learning and problem solving process known as "options and analysis and issue spotting"
The following topics are covered in this workshop:
- Cisco Catalyst 3550/3560 Essentials (port assignment, trunking, VTP, EtherChannel, Layer 3 Connectivity and Spanning Tree)
- IGPs (OSPF, EIGRP and RIPv2)
- IP Multicast
- Router and Cisco Catalyst 3560 QoS
The workshop also includes two graded assessment labs. The first graded assessment lab is performed on the first day of class and the second graded assessment lab is performed on the last day of class.
At the end of this class, students will have an understanding of the core CCIE topics listed above. They will also have internalized the "options analysis" and "issue spotting" learning and problem solving approach. For post-classroom activities, students will be prepared to perform a series of self-paced practice labs as well as additional graded assessments. Also, students will leave this course with an established trend of performing assessment labs since they have taken two assessment labs in the course itself.
